Waitts Lake Camp History

1988

Early History

Waitts Lake Camp was purchased from Herb Gunderson in 1988. He started it as a private Christian Camp and encountered some health problems but wanted it to remain a Christian Camp.
When the Open Bible Churches of Eastern Washington District purchased it from Mr Gunderson there was the manager’s home, and a small Chapel. There were also 12 RV sites complete with underground water & electricity. They had built an open air Chapel with just a roof and sawdust floor.

1990

Moving Forward

After the camp was purchased, the Chapel was enclosed and a 1200 square foot kitchen was added...

1992

Building the Main lodge

The 2 Story Dorm with 22 rooms was started in 1992.

1993

Camp, Retreats and Groups

The Waitts Lake Camp has provided facilities for groups of youth and adults since 1993 to all denominations who might enjoy the outdoor experience and yet spend time worshiping the Lord. The goal has always been, and still is today, to foster Christian character development.

2008

Multi-Use Facility

We added this 10,000 square foot multi use facility in 2008. There are 2 Class rooms, one with 3 big screen TV's for a game room. Radiant floor heat keeps the gym warm all year around.

2017 - 2019

More Resources and Events

Waitts Lake Camp is currently running year-round youth, adult, and family camps. We have year-round men’s and women’s retreats, and year-round indoor and outdoor activities. The camp is often rented out to churches and various ministries groups.
Throughout the past and presently, we continue to enhance and construct new facilities and add new amenities. We have recently added a new water slide for our Summer Camps. Also we updated the Audio and Video system in the Chapel. Our Camp continues to focus on providing a place conducive to healthy Christian character development for youth and adult groups from all denominations.
